It Is Time For The New Year

As we all know God is not tied to time (2 Peter 3:8). But it is clear that He made us creatures that are tied to time. He put the sun, the moon, and the stars in the sky so we could keep up with time. A few years ago someone left a very nice sundial on our front porch. I’ve never been able to find out who did it but it is a neat thing. It keeps good time! And it reminds me of how masterfully the Lord arranged this life and the entire universe.

God also made us so that we are biologically aware of time. We get sleepy every night. Those who do shift work have to make accommodation for rest sometime during every twenty-four hours. We are made to take account of the time.

So it is that now we are all aware that 2017 is just about over and that 2018 is just around the corner. Most of us probably think about what the New Year will bring. For just about everybody the New Year will bring the normal amount of work and responsibility and more. There will be joys and challenges each new day. God makes every new day and we need to be thankful for each one (Psalm 118:24).

It will be best however, to remember in our New Year these words of Jesus: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
