Another Blessed Year

This is the last of our bulletin articles for 2017. It is certainly true that the older we get the faster time goes by. In this last article Ginger and I want each of you to know how much we appreciate the support and love we receive from the members of the congregation here at West Hobbs Street.

The church is really “those who are called out of the world by the gospel of Christ.” This is the meaning of the word translated “church” in the New Testament. The church is also the family of God (1 Timothy 3:15). One of the great things about our congregation is that it feels like a big family. Since in the spiritual sense we are called out of the world it is a distinct blessing that we have each other in this great family. Like all families we have our ups and downs, our moments of joy and of sadness. But together we get through it all together. As Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

From time to time Ginger and I reflect on the way life has worked out for us. On one of our early trips from her home in Eufaula back up to where we started our work in West Tennessee we drove through Huntsville. As we came over Monte Sano we both remarked that this part of the country would be a good place to live and work. Little did we know how things were going to work out. As it has turned out we count ourselves blessed beyond measure. This church (by which I mean, the people in it) is an indelible part of our lives.

So it is that at this holiday season we want each of you to know how much we are thankful for you. May God bless each of you with great days and with many more of them.
