Mission Program

And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:15-16 (NKJ)

The elders at West Hobbs Street have guided this congregation to place a strong emphasis on missions. Besides the support of full-time missionaries in several locations, we send our own members into the mission fields several times each year. The moral and financial support of the whole congregation gives the members going out to work a sense of purpose to convert the lost and a sense of obligation to the congregation to represent the church at West Hobbs Street in a positive manner.

The number one goal of missions is to seek and save those who are lost through the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is also a secondary goal in our mission work. By sending our own members out to do some of this work, we see a great benefit to our own congregation. The personal growth and renewed dedication of the returning mission workers benefit the local congregation in ways that would be hard to accomplish any other way. The members who are unable to go into the mission field have a vested interest in the work because it is their friends who are being sent. This arrangement fosters a spirit of teamwork about our mission program and we give God the glory for any successes.
The Gospel is truly the "power of God unto salvation."
